Biscuits

The hardest part of making these biscuits is having a clean surface to roll out the dough.  I like to let the kids cut them out with various cookie cutters.

2 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
3 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening
1 egg
2/3 c milk

Combine dry ingredients.  Cut in shortening until you have coarse crumbs.  Beat egg w/ milk and stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.  Knead on a floured surface and roll to 3/4 inch thick.  Cut and bake 8-10 minutes at 450.
